A Special Home

Berkeley is known for having beautiful homes and it is no wonder with all the ground breaking architects who designed homes in the area. Always on the cutting edge for forward thinking, Berkeley was a natural place for up and coming architects to start their practices.

As a fifth generation east bay native I even discovered a Berkeley home designed by a cousin of my grandfather! I am so lucky to tour homes by Julia Morgan, Bernard Maybeck and John Hudson Thomas (the latter two I have sold, representing buyers).

Earlier this year I was approached by four adult siblings looking to sell their beloved family home. As soon as I entered the property I knew I was in the presence of something very special and identified the home as a William Wurster. Wurster was the dean of UC Berkeley's architecture department and is famous for integrating landscape in his design. He is thought to be an influence of generations of California modern architecture.

We implemented a thoughtful paint scheme and made many repairs and updates to this special home at 798 Creston Road. New lights, refinishing floors, landscaping, it all came together beautifully.

At the open houses it was such a delight to see so many architects walk through. It was clear that for them it was like entering into a sacred space or touching a piece of the moon. I understood how they felt, I deeply enjoyed the hours I spent in this house.

I was also thrilled to receive 6 incredible offers and sell the home for $2,525,000. The entire experience left me grateful, once again, for the job I get to do.
